• Develop a campus culture and climate in which internationalism, multiculturalism,
and diversity flourish as integral components of a holistic, integrated educational
experience.

and students and an enduring sense of connection to the institution among alumnae
and alumni.
• Attain an optimal student enrollment representing broad domestic and
international diversity.
• Develop resources and an environment in which faculty excel in their
teaching and research while serving the College effectively and participating
as citizens of the College community.
• Use information technology to enhance and support scholarship of students
and faculty.
• Raise and maintain the College's facilities to a level that complements
the quality of the academic program.
• Support an ongoing culture of planning and assessment as systemic activities
of the College. |
| This strategic plan seeks to
enhance and strengthen the key components of our institution: the K-Plan
and our commitment to experiential, international, and multicultural dimensions
of education. Throughout its history, Kalamazoo College has broken new
ground in liberal arts education through our nationally-recognized study
abroad programs, our innovations in Experiential Education, and the excellence
of our First-Year Experience program. Through the K-Plan, students are
provided an array of opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, and
attitudes that underlie the five dimensions of a Kalamazoo College education:
lifelong learning, intercultural understanding, social responsibility,
career readiness, and leadership. During the next five years, we will develop
key connections that undergird the K-Plan: connections
among students, faculty, administration, and staff; connections
with our global partners and the global community; connections
within a diverse and civil campus community; and connections
with our communities beyond the campus. Strengthening
these connections will sustain our momentum through the end of the first
decade of the 21st century, and will renew our commitments to the highest
ethical standards, respect for all persons, and leadership with integrity.
