When the U.S. House of Representatives passed a trans-exclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) in 2007, it was a shot heard round the world for trans people and progressive queers in the U.S. and beyond. The 11th-hour, betraying machinations that shepherded the 2007 House vote exposed the transphobic underbelly of the LGBTQ movement, eventually catalyzing one of the most impactful grassroots studies of transgender experience in history, the National Transgender Discrimination Survey (NTDS).
