Lee Lai is a mixed race, transgender artist from Melbourne, Australia, currently living in Tio’tia:ke (known as Montreal), Quebec. Her work is primarily comics and illustrations that weave narrative and dialogue to make queer visual fiction, occasionally coloured by memoir. These stories, while informed by politics of resistance and anger, settle into vignettes of tenderness and intimacy between family members, friends, romantic partners. They take place in forests, bedrooms, urban chinatowns and back alleys, and meditate on how certain bodies- often displaced in themselves in some way, find belonging in these spaces.
