I
joined the Political Science Department at Kalamazoo College
in the fall of 1995 to teach courses in International Relations
and Latin American Politics. Because I pursued my undergraduate
and graduate education in large state university systems (Louisiana
State University and Indiana University, respectively), I appreciate
the special ethos that characterizes a liberal arts college.
In particular, I enjoy the smaller class sizes, the close student-teacher
relationships that can develop, and the unique opportunities
for personal and intellectual growth that we provide our students.
Not least, I value the opportunity to pursue actively my research
and writing on political reform, human rights, and U.S. foreign
policy with regard to Latin America and, more specifically,
Colombia.
