Course Requirements
Physics Major
Eight units in physics exclusive of lab credit and the SIP, and five units of mathematics including:
- PHYS 150, 152 Introductory Physics I, II with lab
- PHYS 220 Introduction to Relativity and Quantum Physics with lab
- PHYS 340 Intermediate Mechanics
- PHYS 370 Electronics and Electromagnetism with lab
- MATH 112,113,214,240, and 280 (with grades of C or better)
Some work in chemistry and computer science is highly recommended. Students
interested in graduate school study in physics should take MATH 310, and as much
physics as they can.
Physics Minor
Six units including:
- PHYS 150, 152 Introductory Physics I, II with lab
- PHYS 220 Introduction to Relativity and Quantum Physics with lab
- Three additional physics courses, two at the 200 level or above and at
least one at the 300 level or above.
3/2 Engineering Program
Science and math courses typically taken for the 3/2 program are:
