"These
sleazy Greek guys tried to talk to me today. One guy kept saying he's spent
"Six months in London. Picadilly!" but spoke terrible English. When I didn't
understand he would say, doubtfully, "You speak English??" The other guy
kept asking me if I spoke Italian, French, or German. No, sorry! "How about
Spanish?" I ask. The one language he couldn't speak! The Picadilly guy
said "I like you! You like me?" I explained that I was married and pointed
to the ring on my hand--which happened to be gold. They didn't take no
for an answer. It was time to get the bags and go to the dock. So we got
our luggage and got ready to leave, and one of them handed me a coke from
the machine. I tried to refuse--I felt it a little compromising (I buy
you coke, you decide to like me??)--but he stuck it in the top of my shoulder
bag and smiled. What can you do about that?"
