I completed three Spanish course units to fulfill the graduation requirement of proficiency at the Intermediate level. These included Beginning Spanish I, Beginning Spanish II, and Intermediate Spanish. I learned basic grammar and vocabulary in addition to listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
As a Freshman, I wanted to keep my study-abroad options open and this included the Kalamazoo program in Ecuador where the classes are taught in Spanish. So, I hoped being excited to go to Ecuador would give me a reason, a practical application, to learn Spanish. Additionally, I think Spanish is a common language spoken in the United States and thought knowing a second language would certainly expand my job possibilities. While I was committed to learning Spanish, I had difficulty with verb ending application and speaking skills. The classes were a struggle for me and truthfully I was glad to be finished. At this point, I will be taking no more Spanish classes.{ Home }
