Values and Goals:


Short Term Goals:

Complete Spanish language sequence
Review over the summer prior to Fall Quarter
Meet with Prof. to clarify concepts
Attend LACs, Spanish language tables, films, tertulias


Improvement of Quantitative Reasoning Skills: To be able to analyze data and present results visually and orally
Take Intro. Statistics class
Learn application of steps of scientific process and development of hypothesis
Gain more experience with Excel

Complete Research Apprenticeship in Biology (RAB) with Dr. Sotherland
Arrange to work independently at Arboretum junior year
Learn how to analyze water samples
Set plan for creation of range maps and entering new data

Update: This goal was not completed as I became interested in other areas of biology and busy with my SIP.

Mid-Term Goals:

Complete Biology Major w/3.5+ GPA
Complete required course sequence
Attend related LACs
Begin planning SIP research Junior year
Take MCAT and/or GRE
Complete RAB


Complete Economics Minor
Complete required course sequence
Read newspaper articles pertaining to economics
Learn from Dad how to manage my investments

Long Term Goals:

To be able to express myself orally in an organized, succinct, and engaging manner
Participate in class discussions
Challenge myself to do oral assignments instead of written assignments when given the option
Take opportunities to argue the pros/cons of a subject
Accept opportunities to practice presentations to build successes


To complete Ph.D. program
Complete B.A. program with 3.5+ GPA
Participate in extracurricular/career-exploration activities
Complete SIP
Develop mentor and reference relationships
Talk with graduate students about programs
Begin a file on potential graduate programs of interest


To be physically fit
Continue ballet classes
Take walks when feeling stressed and allow for "personal time"
Develop better eating habits with regular meal times and breakfast
Drink more water
Schedule in time for weight training


Life-long learning and self-evaluation
Keep journal to reflect on events, choices, emotional reactions
Approach situations/difficult courses as a challenge
Record in planner areas/skills I feel I need to work on or want to focus on and develop
