French:
    Parlez-vous francais?  Currently, I am in the process of becoming conversant in French and will obtain the level of intermediate upon completion of my BA at Kalamazoo College.  With some French in high school, I started French Winter quarter and have been studying it since with a tutor.  In addition, I have several French speaking friends, two of which have studied in Senegal, that are willing to help learn some of the differences between France French and African (at least Sengel-French) French. 

Swahili:
    Unasema Kiswahili?  While in Kenya, I took two classes on the basics of Swahili in addition to the experience of speaking to Kenyans.  I am able to converse with others and had to use my swahili-speaking skills when performing my research project in Tsavo NP.  Swahili provided me with the unique opportunity to learn a language other than an Indo-European language.

Latin:
    I have completed three college classes and reached the level of intermediate.  Latin gave me the tools to understand the Romance languages and the construction of a language.
