Lifelong Learning
Land/Sea is experiential learning in action! From this experience, I gained much knowledge about myself, and about life in general, that will continue to help me in life far beyond the time that I spent in the woods. I believe that I will be able to use much of what I learned once I am out in the "real world". I can already see myself making use of my new skills. Cooking was something that had to be done by the participants on Land/Sea. This is something I was never good at, or even liked to try, before coming to K. But now that I am here, and have eaten at Saga, I have been able to put my newly learned cooking skills to use! A hot pot is a luxury compared to our little cookstove on Land/Sea. Putting up a tarp, and learning the knots to use to do so correctly was another thing I learned in Killarney. This skill is not as necessary here in the dorms, and later in life, as cooking is, but it is a good survival skill, I believe. These and other skills are what I learned on Land/Sea. As I continue here at K, I believe I will see many more of these skills put to use. I look forward to this, as they are a part of my lifelong learning.
