My Introduction to Computer Science class gave me an excellent background on the history of computers and how they are made.  Along with learning their history, I also learned some very basic programming.
I have also taken Digital Art, a class that uses Macs (scary!) to alter photographs and make a new form of art.  My understanding of computers has  grown a lot because of this class, not only to open my mind to using Macs, but also to learn how to do some really cool things to my pictures.
