Student Employment
Student employment is coordinated through the Center
for Career Development.
Students with Federal Work Study awards, a component of a financial
aid package, are extended priority hiring for most campus positions.
Incoming students accepting Federal Work Study funding are assigned
employment based on skills and interests identified on financial
aid survey information.
Remaining positions will be listed online at kconnect,
which incoming students may access after arriving on campus. Students
apply directly to departments posting openings.
Most job offers are extended for one academic year, with re-employment
at the option of both the student and the department. Campus departments
place a high value on the contributions made by their student
employees. Even though most departments can be flexible to accommodate
different work schedules during particularly intense academic
weeks, students are expected to negotiate these accommodations
in advance.
Reliability and commitment to work responsibilities are expectations
of all campus employers. Students not meeting these obligations
may be released from their work assignments, even if the assignment
is a Federal Work Study placement.
