Prof. Thomas Evans

Prior to accepting the position of Assistant Professor of Music at Kalamazoo College, Dr. Evans was Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Alfred University in Alfred, NY. While at Alfred, he was responsible for rebuilding the instrumental portion of the music program. One result of this rebuilding was the realization of two highly successful international concert tours with the Jazz Ensemble (Russia, Finland, and Estonia, 1990; and Tunisia, 1992). Dr. Evans also has six years of public school teaching experience in New York state where his high school bands and orchestras received the highest rating at state ensemble festivals. He holds degrees from the University of Michigan (Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance), Boston University (Master or Music in Music Education and Performance), and the State University of New York at Fredonia (Music Education). He is a recent contributor to The Instrumentalist magazine and frequently appears as a soloist, clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor.
