Monday, September 30~ The School to Prison Pipeline: Take Action!, Dewing 103, 8:00 pm
Sheran Pearson, founder of Young Black Males for Justice, will present her speech “From the Cradle to the Prison” documenting her son’s life. Lawrence B. Schlack, former superintendent of KPS, will discuss the educational system.

October 7, 2008~ Total Denial, Olmsted Room 8:00 pm
Anisha Gade, from Earth Rights, will elaborate on corporate responsibility in international human rights and environmental justice issues along with clips from the Earth Rights International film 5/22/2008 Total Denial.

October 10, 2008~ Beginning with Bach, Dalton 8:00 pm
Kalamazoo Bach Festival presents a musical concert featuring Michigan artists playing the music of J.S. Bach

October 11, 2008~ Interview with Dr. Daniel Levitina, Dalton 1:00 pm
Dr. Daniel Levitin of McGill University and author of “This is Your Brain on Music” will be interviewed on-stage by Dr. Edward Roth, Associate Professor of Music Therapy at Western Michigan University.

Wednesday, October 15~ ’Captured!’, Olmsted Room 8:00 pm
Kathleen Hoscher speech entitled “’Captured!’ the Mid-Century Controversy Over Catholic Sisters in the Public Classroom” will look at public education within a historical and religious perspective.

Wednesday, October 22~ What’s Morally Wrong with Homosexuality?, Stetson 7:00 pm
Dr. John Corvino, Wayne State University, will examine and dismantles the most common arguments against homosexual conduct.

Wednesday, October 29~ Moritz Lecture, Olmsted room 7:00 pm
Professor Ray Van Dam will speak.

October 31~ Kalamazoo College Symphonic Band, Dalton 8:00 pm
“ Goons and Tunes”: a selection of Halloween music

Sunday, November 9~ Mandolin Orchestra Concert, Dalton 3:00 pm

Kalamazoo Mandolin Orchestra and the Yellow Spring, OH Mandolin Orchestra will join to perform historically relevant composition for the mandolin.

Tuesday, November 11~ Yourba Dance
Dr. Ajayi-Soyinka will lecture/demonstrate the technique of Yourba dance. She will be choreographing Death and the King’s Horseman in the fall.

Thursday-Sunday, November 13-16, Death and the King’s Horseman, Balch 8pm/sun 2pm
This play, by Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka and based on an incident that took place in Nigeria during British colonial rule, probes the relationship between the unborn, the living, and the dead while weaving together African and European traditions to tell a tale of cultural responsibility.

Friday, November 21~ K College A Cappella Concert, Dalton 8:00 pm

Acabella’s and Premium Orange will perform a variety of music form a multitude of genres and style
