Associate Director of Web Services
The Associate Director of Web Services is the point of contact
for all Web related activities at Kalamazoo
College and creates an environment on campus that encourages
the development of the Kalamazoo College
Website. The Associate Director of Web Services articulates and
advances a shared vision for the role of
the Web in the Kalamazoo College Community and beyond and works
closely with campus members and
Information Services staff to manage the continued growth and
enhancement of the Web site.
Specific
responsibilities are as follows:
• Serves as an advocate and resource for institutional,
departmental, and organizational use of the Web
in support of their missions, goals and activities.
Ensures that the content, function and visual integrity
of the Web site is maintained consistently.
• Ensures the graphic design of the Web site is developed,
as appropriate, in coordination with college
publications, public relations activities and college design
professionals.
• Coordinates and supports departmental content providers and
Web specialists. This would include
helping departments campus-wide to develop and maintain Web content
as appropriate.
• Analyzes requirements, develops plans and procedures, and
manages implementation of enhanced
Web content. Evaluates effectiveness, usability and accessibility
of the Web site.
• In coordination with the Associate Director of Systems and
Networking, helps monitor legal, privacy,
and security concerns related to the use of the Web.
• Seeks to provide opportunities for faculty, staff, and student
participation in recommending and
reviewing Web services and policies.
• In coordination with the Associate Director of Systems and
Networking, works with Information
Services staff in evaluation, design, and production of a campus
wide information architecture that
utilizes Web functionality for academic and administrative operations
and access to information
resources.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new technologies, standards,
and protocols in order to identify
areas for future development.
• May modify official Web content in conjunction
with those parties responsible for each
Web site.
•• Develops guidelines for content and structure of the official pages
of the web site and disseminates this information to other users.
• Approves changes to the Kalamazoo College home page.
• Reviews the accuracy and currency of information included in the Kalamazoo
College official Web site pages.
• Advises the Dean of Libraries and Information Services on the suspension and renewal of personal pages.
• Reviews and recommends changes to web policies to meet changing demands. |
