Anderson Athletic Center
Tredway Gymnasium was torn down in 1980 to make way for a new, expanded athletic center. Anderson Athletic Center is named after Rolla Anderson, who retired as chairman of the athletic department after a thirty-two year career with the College. Anderson was recently renovated in the summer of 2004. The Natatorium across the street was built in 1968 and houses an Olympic size pool.
The Natatorium and Anderson Athletic Center are open to all students and faculty, not just varsity athletes, and all of the facilities are free for students to use. Inside Anderson are a gym, dance studio, weight room, trainer’s room, sauna, and coaches’ offices. In addition to varsity athletics, there are a variety of intramural sports teams as well as P.E. classes (students are required to take five before they graduate) such as yoga, indoor rock climbing, swimming, weight training, horseback riding.
