To begin you will need to know what Operating System is installed on your computer:

Windows PC
Your Computer is a Windows PC if:
You turn on the machine and after 10 or more seconds, you see an image on your entire screen
that includes the word "Windows"
To figure out what version of Windows you have, follow these steps:
- click the "Start" button
- click on the "Run" menu item
- In the "Open:" box type "winver" (do not type the " ")
- click the "OK" button.
A window will then appear that displays the version of Microsoft Windows you are using:
If the window displays Windows 95, 98, 98 Second Edition or Windows Me,

If the window displays Windows 2000,

If the window displays Windows XP,

Apple Macintosh
Your Computer is a Macintosh if:
When your computer is starting up you, see a message that says "Welcome to Macintosh"
To figure out what version of the Macintosh operating system you are running, follow these steps:
- Click on the "Apple" menu located at the top-left of your computer screen.
- go to the "About This Computer" or "About This Mac" and click it.
A window will pop up that will display information about your Macintosh system
including operating system version you are using:
If the window displays Mac OS Version 9,

If the window displays Mac OS Version 10.0 - 10.2,
