ResNet Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is ResNet?
ResNet is the residential computer network service provided to students living at
Kalamazoo College. ResNet lets you connect your computer directly to Kalamazoo College's
high-speed Ethernet network via a connection located in each room. With ResNet, students
can access library resources, e-mail, other computers on the network and the Internet.
What are the minimum computer hardware and software requirements for connecting
to ResNet?
Please see our
Computer Buying Guide for information on hardware and software standards.

The Kalamazoo College Bookstore has ethernet
cards and cables in stock, you can find the bookstore in the lower level of the Hicks center.
Can I use a hub, switch or wireless access point on the network?
No, The network was designed to allow one Ethernet address per port, and a hub, switch or
wireless access point would carry multiple Ethernet addresses to one network port. If you
have multiple computers in your room, contact the Networking Department at
network@kzoo.edu to determine possible solutions to
connecting them to the network.
How do I register my computer to use ResNet?

or infected with a virus. This will protect our network resources and also enable you
to be notified more quickly if your own computer is compromised.

on my computer?
No. The computer registration system does not change any settings on your computer
or install software.
