PRINTING SERVICES FAQ

Printing Home | Policy | Avoid Waste | FAQ

This page answers some Frequently Asked Questions about Printing Services.

1.
Will I lose credits if the printer doesn't work?
No. If the printer is not working and nothing prints, the print queue will reset after 5 minutes. You will not lose print credits.
2.
Will I lose credits if there is no paper in the printer?
No. Print credits are not deducted until something actually prints; if the printer is out of paper and not restocked before the print queue resets, you will not lose print credits.
3.
The document I am trying to print has more pages than I have print credits. Will it use up the rest of my credits?
No. If you try to print a document that exceeds the number of credits you have, none of the document will print. The printing system does NOT notify you if your quota is exceeded; it simply won't print anything.
4.
What happens if I forget to log off of the computers in the computer labs?

If you do not log off of your network account, someone else can use your account and your print credits. THESE CREDITS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. Information Services is not responsible when someone else has printed from your account.

5.
Can I get reimbursed for a bad print?
Yes. You can request a print credit refund if the printout is unreadable, the page did not print completely, the page is wrinkled, or a paper jam occurs. YOU MUST BRING the flawed pages to the Library Circulation Desk to receive a print credit refund.
You CANNOT request a refund for non-printer errors, such as blank pages at the end of a document, printing the wrong document, printouts that you decide you do not want after printing, or typos and spelling mistakes.
6.
Can I tell how many print credits I have left?
Yes. To view the print credit balance, double-click the black dollar sign in the track next to the clock in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Printing accounts will block print jobs that exceed the number of available credits. Balance can only be viewed on PCs but students are still charged if using a Macintosh computer
7.
Can I use my own paper?
No. Other papers can cause a paper jam.
