LIBRARY POLICIES:
WHEELED TRANSPORTATION
Purpose
Bicycles, skates, scooters, skateboards, and other methods
of pedestrian transportation (other than manual or
motorized wheelchairs, walkers, and baby strollers and carriages)
can be hazardous inside the Upjohn Library Commons building
whether they are ridden or parked.
Policy
Patrons may not ride pedestrian transportation within the
Upjohn Library Commons building at any time, with some exceptions
(see below).
Most forms of pedestrian transportation should be secured
to the bicycle racks outside the Upjohn Library Commons building.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Bicycles
- Unicycles
- Non-foldable scooters (such as the Segway Human Transporter)
- Motorized transportation
Smaller, portable forms of transportation may be kept with
the patron at all times for security of personal property.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Skates (rollerblades, inline skates, roller skates, etc.)
- Foldable scooters
- Skateboards
Exceptions
The Upjohn Library Commons welcomes visitors who require
pedestrian transportation for mobility. Therefore, there
are exceptions to the pedestrian transportation policy.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Wheelchairs
- Electric and motorized wheelchairs
- Walkers
- Baby strollers and carriages
