POLICY ON UNPUBLISHED WORKS (SIPS,
STUDENT PAPERS, ETC.) AND RESERVE USE
The Kalamazoo College Library will place unpublished
works (such as Senior Individualized Projects and other
student papers) on Print Reserve or Electronic Reserve
after the Library has received signed permission in writing
by the copyright holder (usually the author) of the work.
This written letter must grant explicitly the permission
to copy, download, or print the work by current students,
faculty, and staff at Kalamazoo College, within fair use
guidelines.
Forms must be signed by the copyright holder in order
to grant permission to place an unpublished manuscript
on Print Reserve or Electronic Reserve.
Kalamazoo College students complete their SIP’s
and other papers to fulfill degree requirements, and with
the expectation that their works will not be distributed
freely by anyone at the College. SIP’s and student
papers are unpublished manuscripts, and as such, the authors
hold the copyright to their works in perpetuity. Therefore,
each unpublished manuscript placed on Print Reserve or
Electronic Reserve must have permission from the copyright
holder to:
-
Place the SIP on Print Reserve or Electronic
Reserve
-
Allow the SIP to be downloaded (Electronic
Reserve)
-
Allow the SIP to be printed (Electronic
Reserve)
