REFERENCE BY MAIL OR EMAIL
Because of its old Baptist records, the Archives frequently
receives letters and email requesting genealogical information.
These letters are sometimes "shots in the dark"
and the sender may not provide a lot of useful information.
The Baptist materials housed in the Archives are mainly from
the State association and there is little information on individual
churches and congregations. Therefore, the Archives tries
to limit to 30 minutes the time involved in such searches.
That is usually enough time to discover whether the sought
after information can be located. If a lengthier search is
needed, the researcher is requested to pay $5/hour for a student
research assistant to do the work, supervised by the Archivist.
