Symposium Preparation Recommendations
- Make a tentative decision regarding
your presentation before you leave for your SIP
(i.e. poster or oral presentation).
- Keep this in mind as you gather information,
design tables and graphs of your data, etc.
- Take pictures of the lab/researchers/outdoor
research stations.
- Take advantage of opportunities to
observe other presentations or posterstake notes
on the types of slides or figures, the layouts of the
posters, speaking styles, the kinds of questions asked,
etc.
- As soon as you have handed in your
SIP, begin preparing for your presentation.
- Be aware that you may have to significantly
change figures/tables after your written SIP has been
reviewed by the department. Go ahead and prepare as though
only minor changes will be necessary, but do no have
slides made until you've seen your reviewed SIP.
