The Library is pleased to offer a free trial of Historical American
and British Newspapers
from Gale until June 5, 2009. This trial
does not require a password to access articles.

This collection of fully searchable historical American and British newspapers includes digital facsimile images of both full pages and clipped articles for hundreds of British and U.S. newspapers.
For each issue, the newspaper is captured from cover-to-cover, providing access to every article, advertisement and illustration.

The Library is pleased to announce a free trial of Cambridge Histories Online until August 21, 2008.

This database is an online version of the well-respected Cambridge History Reference works. "Cambridge Histories Online contains 250 volumes published since 1960, equating to around 196,000 pages of unrivaled scholarship. Free Trial to Historical Statistics of the United States

The Library has received a free trial to Historical Statistics of the United States (HSUS) until January 31, 2007. To access this trial on campus, go to:

There is no off-campus access to this trial.

Below are browser requirements for use with Historical Statistics:
1) Historical Statistics is optimized to work on the latest version of IE (6+) on a PC, 5+, and for Safari on a Mac. Firefox and other major browsers can also be used.
2) Pop-ups and JavaScript should be enabled. Session cookies should be allowed.
3) Browser security settings should be on Medium or lower. Settings that disable scripting will cause a problem with the site's functionality.

The Library is pleased to announce a free trial of NewspaperDirect PressDisplay from ProQuest. NewspaperDirect PressDisplay provides online access to today's newspapers from around the world in full-color, full-page format. The collection currently includes over 400 titles and has a 60 day backfile. It includes publications in Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

Scopus Database Trial

The Library is pleased to announce a trial to Scopus. This database, a product of Elsevier publishers, offers access to 14,000 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers in the areas of Health, Life Sciences, Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Social Science, Psychology, Economics, and Business and Management.

Scopus not only gives the abstract of an article, but it links to references within articles as well. Scopus is not a full text database, but you can check Ariadne or the Electronic Journal Finder to see if Kalamazoo College has access to print or electronic versions of the articles indexed in Scopus.

You can access Scopus in two ways:
