TED: Technology, Entertainment, Design

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design.
It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people
from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

The annual conference now brings together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the
talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

The TED site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free. Almost 200 talks from their archive are available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted.

So, You want to show a Movie on Campus...

So, you want to show a movie on campus...Great!
Film screenings directly related to a specific class and shown only to those enrolled in the class do not require a separate license. However, films screened for other purposes, such as at student organization events or when a screening is open to the greater college community, require Public Performance Rights (PPR).

The good news is that many of the documentaries the college already owns on relevant topics and current events have PPR. Just stop by the Media Services desk between 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday, so we can show you how to search the catalog for an approved video or DVD that suits your event.

See how to request a movie in this video clip, starring Anita the Squirrel and Jeannie Sanders of Media Services:
https://reason.kzoo.edu/is/assets/AnitaMedia.mp4

If you have any questions as to whether a film screening will need PPR, please review this flowchart.
