Library Book Move: Phase One Complete

All of the circulating book collection that has been stored in Dewing for the last 18 months has been moved to the shelving in the new library building. This process finished three weeks ahead of schedule!

We are now working on Phase Two: moving the bound periodicals from Dewing and the storage warehouse into the new library building. This will be a longer process than moving the books, but we hope that there will be little or no disruption in service. Thank you for your patience during our move!

Important Password Information

Information Services is in the process reducing the number of passwords needed for various systems on campus. Currently there are two main passwords: your KNET password and your “temporary” password. By winter quarter these two passwords will be merged, and you will only have to remember one password. Until this process is complete, here is a breakdown of how to use your passwords.

I.S. has emailed you a “temporary” password. This “temporary” password allows you to:

* Access the K College Intranet
* Access Electronic Reserve readings
* Access online directories
* Upload to your personal Web pages with kzoo.edu, henson.kzoo.edu, and cc.kzoo.edu addresses
* Access campus.kzoo.edu pages
* Access the Hornet Zone Wireless Internet
* Access Resnet Registration (students)
* Access your CorporateTime/Oracle Calendar (faculty and staff)

If you do not remember (or have lost) your temporary password, contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@kzoo.edu to have your temporary password reset. If you change your temporary password, the change will take effect within 24 hours.

Use your KNET password for:

* Email
* Signing into a Windows PC
* Using a computer lab
* Printing in the Library or computer labs
* Accessing ILLiad, the interlibrary loan service
* Accessing network file shares

STUDENTS: A completely different password is used for Moodle. If you are in a class that uses Moodle and want to change your Moodle password, you can do so directly through Moodle.

FACULTY AND STAFF: Completely different passwords are used for Academic Records Online (ARO), Web Advancement Officer, Moodle, and updating Web pages with www.kzoo.edu and campus.kzoo.edu addresses. None of these passwords were affected by the move to a “temporary” password for other functions. To change your ARO password, see the Registrar; for Web Advancement Officer, see Rob Davis (rdavis@kzoo.edu or 337-5156); for Moodle, you can change your password directly in Moodle; for uploading to www.kzoo.edu and campus.kzoo.edu, see Carolyn Zinn (czinn@kzoo.edu or 337-5761).

For more information on passwords, including how to change them, see http://www.kzoo.edu/helpdesk/passwords/index.html.

Thank you,
Information Services

Though U.S. libraries will be given first priority when ordering materials, we are happy to contact the British Library for materials that cannot be obtained elsewhere.

ILLiad Interlibary Loan Service Now Available!

The Library new Interlibrary Loan service, ILLiad, is now available! ILLiad replaces all past methods of placing interlibrary loan requests. Paper request forms and the old online request forms are discontinued. We will also no longer accept emailed requests.

Using the system is easy. Just log in with your Kalamazoo College network username and password. First time users will fill out a short registration form. Then you will be able to request books and articles without entering your personal information each time. You can check on the status of your requests, ask for renewals, or cancel requests. You will also enjoy instant email notification to let you know when your material has arrived. Though you will still come to the Library circulation desk to pick up books, all articles will be delivered electronically through your ILLiad account.

You can still request Interlibrary Loan items directly through FirstSearch databases and other online indexes -- just click the link that says "Request this item with ILLiad." You will be asked to log in to ILLiad and the request form will already be filled out for you.

If you have questions about using ILLiad, contact the Reference Department at reference@kzoo.edu or 269-337-7152.
