Libary Construction Update

The last part of the expansion's concrete frame will be finished
in the next two weeks. Exterior masonry work is scheduled to
start at the end of this month. Roof steel will go up in
mid-October.

Excavation on the south side of the existing building (to
provide the new utilities to the building) is scheduled to start
in the next couple of weeks. Asbestos abatement in the existing
building was completed last week. Demolition in the existing
building is currently underway and will last about 3 to 4 more
weeks.

Ductwork and plumbing installation is underway on the lower
level of the expansion.

The Upjohn Library Commons will be ready for occupancy in
January '06! Check out the display in Light Fine Arts Lobby!

Stone Room and Free Coffee!

The Stone Room in Hicks is now ready for a quiet study space for
students. Hours are the same as library hours:

Monday-Thursday, 8:00am - Midnight
Friday, 8:00am - 8:00pm
Saturday, 9:00am - 8:00pm
Sunday, 11am - Midnight

K Seniors will be able to get FREE COFFEE at Sodexho's new
temporary SNACK BAR located in the President's Dining Room. See

Wireless Internet Access in Hicks Lobby

Hicks Lobby now has wireless access! Recommended wireless cards
are available in the bookstore. More information is coming next
week. In the mean time, contact network@kzoo.edu if you have
questions.

Library Resouces Available During Renovation

Books and periodicals are still available through the Kalamazoo
College Library in Hicks Center. Items may be requested through
Ariadne, the online catalog (http://ariadne.kzoo.edu/).

Kalamazoo College students, faculty, and staff can also request
items through InMICH, free of charge, from over 20 Michigan
libraries. Search http://inmich.mlc.lib.mi.us/, order the titles
of your choice, and pick them up at the Kalamazoo College
Library's circulation desk in Hicks Center.

In addition, Kalamazoo College students, faculty, and staff can
check out books and other materials from the Libraries at Western
Michigan University. Waldo Library is on the city bus route. The
#16 bus runs up Lovell Street to Waldo. See http://www.kmetro.org
for schedules and fares.

Waldo Library's regular hours are:

Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

As a courtesy during the renovation and expansion project,
students, faculty, and staff can return items checked out from
Western's libraries to the Kalamazoo College Library's circulation
desk.

There is a book return in Red Square next to Dewing. Kalamazoo
College library books may be returned in the book return. Please
return videos and reserve items to the circultation desk in Hicks.
