Read a banned book

As the author of Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury, said, "You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them."

The American Library Association has named September 29th - October 6th the 26th annual Banned Books week. The theme this year is "Free People Read Freely" and celebrates the rights of Americans to read whatever they want. Locally, the Kalamazoo Public Library will host a "Banned Books Readout" on October 4th at 6:30 p.m. at the central library where actors will read from books that have been banned during the past year. A link to more information about this event can be found at KPL's website.

More information about the annual event and lists of banned books can be found at the American Library Association's website.
