Academy Street Closure

Citing safety issues, the City of Kalamazoo will close Academy Street
between Bulkley Street and Thompson Street during the remainder of the
Kalamazoo College library construction and renovation project. Academy
Street west of Bulkley and east of Thompson will remain open to
two-way traffic. Construction traffic ONLY will ingress and egress on
the one block of Academy between Bulkley and Thompson Streets; there
will be no thruway for civilian vehicle traffic on that block. Parking
on that closed block will be reserved for construction workers.
Construction traffic will not use Bulkley Street. Construction on the
library project is expected to complete in the fall of 2005, at which
time this one block of Academy Street will reopen for traffic. The
closure goes into effect Friday morning, May 21.
