How to Use MeLCat
How to Place a Request in MeLCat
 If
you do not find the items you need in Ariadne, or if the
item you are looking for is checked out, you may search
for it in the MeLCat catalog. At the top of each search
results page in Ariadne,
you will see a purple button that says "Try MeLCat."
- When you click on the Try MeLCat button, your search
is automatically carried out in the MeLCat catalog.
- The MeLCat catalog will display a list of records for
your search. This list includes holdings from any of the
participating
libraries.
- Choose a record for an item that you would like to request
by clicking on the title of the item, or you may
click the "Get
this for me" button to request the item.
- When you click
on the link to "Get This
For Me ,"
you will go to a page that lists the item requested at the
top, and then asks you "Which library card/account
do you want to use?"
- From the drop down box below the
question, choose Kalamazoo College, then click on "Submit
above information."
Next you will see a screen that asks for your campus identification
OR your library account information. If you enter
your campus identification, enter your Kalamazoo College
USERNAME and PASSWORD. If you use your library account information, enter
your name and your 14-digit barcode number (from your Kalamazoo
College ID).
MeLCat will confirm that your request has been
sent. Items usually arrive within three to six days.
Your request will be sent to the participating
library. The item will be delivered to the Kalamazoo College
Library Circulation Desk. You will recieve an email notification
when it arrives, and you may pick up the item at the Circulation
Desk.

How to check the status of your MeLCat requests
You can view your MeLCat requests and items
borrowed from MeLCat in your patron record in Ariadne.
To view your patron record, go to http://ariadne.kzoo.edu/patroninfo
You will see a screen that asks for your Kalamazoo College
username and password.
Once you are in your patron record, you can
view the items you have checked out and the items you have
requested from MeLCat. You can also search Ariadne. Your record
may say something like this:
