Each team will play every other team one time. That's nine games. The top four to eight teams in the final standings will qualify for the playoffs. Teams will be seeded for the tournament.
Ties in the standings will be resolved by the following criteria: 1 - Forfeit losses. If two teams are tied for eighth place and one has a forfeit loss, that team is out. We like it if you show up to play...and nobody likes to come to the gym ready to play and the other team fails to show up. 2 - Head to head competition.
All games are call your own fouls and violations. No three pointers and no free throws. Nobody fouls out...although the supervisor can remove anybody if he finds it necessary. No timeouts...rest and strategy discussions are limited to the half time...5 minutes. The first team to 30 wins (1 point per basket). As soon as one team reaches 15 points, that will be half time...again 5 minutes. The game starts with one team getting the ball, and the second half begins with the opposite team getting the ball. Jump ball situations go to the defense. If there are no defining team shirts or uniforms...the skin/shirt rule will be invoked. The skin/shirt rule states that if one team has two or three fat guys (offensive linemen types)...for the benefit of everyone, the heavy team will be shirts. If it is not clear...the team with the fattest player is always shirts.
Should the game go longer than one hour - the supervisor can stop it, or limit it. Be ready to play at the starting time. Captains need to make sure that the proper team is listed as the winner on the score sheet.
