Living Learning Housing Units
Capacity: Each house has
a different capacity depending on the size of the building.
Between 8 to 10 residents will share a Living Learning Housing
Unit. Three of the Living Learning Housing Units are freestanding
houses, one is located in the lower level of Trowbridge
Hall and one is located in the lower level of Crissey
Hall.
Room Types: House arrangements
are a combination of single, double, and triple bedrooms. Each
bedroom contains a bed, study desk, desk chair, and dresser
for the number of people in a room. The common areas of the
houses are also furnished with couches and tables.
Special Features: Living
Learning Housing Units exist because students with a shared
interest find this the best way to help educate themselves and
the larger campus community on issues related to their cause
and to be in a place with people who share similar interests.
The 2006-07 Living Learning Housing Units are: The Womens
Resource Center, Art House, Youth Against Poverty, Wellness
House, and the Spirituality House.
Residents in the Living Learning Housing Units are not required
to carry a meal plan with the College dining service, however
the option does exist to carry a plan if desired by an individual.
Members of the house appoint a liaison to work with the Office
of Residential Life on programming in the house and facilitating
student needs. Students residing in a Living Learning Housing
Unit pay an additional fee to sponsor programs for the residents
of the house and the campus community. Programming efforts in
the houses include events such as Hunger Awareness Banquets,
Breast Cancer Walk/Run, festivals focusing on culture or political
issues, poetry nights, speakers from the community, dinners,
and dances.
