If you are having trouble with your phone, here are some things
to try before you call the Help Desk. This will help you determine
the problem and help us fix it.
To determine whether the problem lies in the line (the telephone
cable that runs through the walls and to the phone company) or
in the instrument (the telephone itself), try
the following:
- Try the instrument you experienced the problem with on another
phone line that you know is working.
- Try the phone line on which you experienced the problem with
another instrument that you know is working.
If you try procedure number 1 and the problem occurred on the
second line as well, you know the problem is in the instrument.
Call the Help Desk to request assistance at 337-5800. Please tell
us the telephone number of the problem
line, a number at which you can be reached, and the location of
the problem line. If the problem does not occur on the second line,
we know that
the
instrument
is not
the
main problem. Please try procedure number 2.
If you try procedure number 2 and the problem occurred with the
second instrument as well, we know that the problem lies in the
line. Call the Help Desk at 337-5800 to have the line serviced.
We will need the following information: the phone number of the
problem
line,
a phone number at which you can be contacted, and the physical
location of the line. If the problem did not recur with the second
instrument,
please try procedure 1 to determine if the problem lies in the
instrument.
