Pre-matriculation Immunizations
The Pre-matriculation Immunization Policy was designed to
protect the health of Kalamazoo College's students by following
American College Health Association (ACHA) recommendations.
We require documentation of
immunization against, or immunity to, the following vaccine -
preventable diseases prior to admission to classes:
- Tetanus and Diphtheria (Td or Tdap) within the last 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) two doses after 12 months of age
- Hepatitis B series of three
- Polio
- Varicella (two doses if no history of chicken pox)
- Complete Tuberculosis Self-Screening Form (if any yes answers, follow-up must be completed-see form)
We recommend the following
immunizations:
- Meningitis
- Influenza (annually)
- HPV vaccine (Gardasil)
- Tdap
Complete health forms must be submitted by August 1st. All students are expected to have the
required immunizations before arriving on campus. Failure to meet the
immunization requirement will result in an inability to participate in athletics, LandSea, move into residence halls, and begin fall classes.
If student, parent(s), or guardian(s) wish to exercise a
religious or other objection to immunization, they must request a
waiver form from the Student Health Center (phone 269-337-7200, fax 269-337-7440, or email healthsv@kzoo.edu). Waivers must be completed and returned to the Student Health Center by August 1st. Students holding waivers to immunization are considered
susceptible to vaccine-preventable disease(s) and are subject to
exclusion from the College if an outbreak of a vaccine preventable
disease occurs on campus.
