FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE :
CALCULUS PROFICIENCY EXAM Taking
the Calculus Proficiency Exam
Please read the following important information before proceeding
to take the Calculus Proficiency Exam:
- The Kalamazoo College Calculus Proficiency Exam is an
online multiple choice exam administered by ilrn.com
operated by WadsworthGroup/Thomson Learning. If you encounter
any computer problems while creating your ilrn.com
account or while taking the exam, please contact the ilrn.com
toll-free student support line: 1-800-423-0563 (choose option
2).
- Use of calculators is not permitted
on the placement exam.
- In case of possible technical problems while taking the
exam, we have not imposed a time limit on the exam. You
should, however, expect to complete the exam in about one
hour. The exam must be completed entirely in a single session.
- Once you reach the
ilrn.com website, you will need to complete the First
Time User Registration before beginning the exam. Please
note the following important information:

toll-free student support line: 1-800-423-0563 (choose
option 2).
- Be sure that you identify your school correctly
as “Kalamazoo College.”
- In the box requesting “Course Key”,
enter the following code exactly as it appears below:
E-4PC66YWZ6SR9P
- Be sure that the e-mail address you provide
is correct. It will be needed to complete activation
of your account.
- When you are asked for identifying information, be
sure to correctly enter your first and last name, as
well as your Kalamazoo College Student ID number. This
will be used to match your placement score with your
online course registration information.
- When you are ready to take the placement exam, log
in to ilrn.com
and click on the "Assignments/Tests" tab, then
click on the “TAKE” button in the assignment
row corresponding to the Calculus Proficiency Exam.
