Economics Across the Globe, June 21- June 22, 2006, was a free workshop on International Economics. Presenters will included Professors Chuck Stull, Patrik Hultberg, and Susan Pozo.
We offered a personal finance seminar for the Hispanic community on June 24, 2006, in partnership with the Hispanic American Council. The workshop was held at St Joseph's school in Kalamazoo, from 9 am - noon. This workshop was in Spanish. This is an extension of a program developed by the Michigan Council on Economic Education in Southeast Michigan; financial support has been provided by HSBC. (En Español)
May 20, 2006, we offered a Virtual Economics 3.0 workshop. Virtual Economics is a CD-ROM with hundreds of lessons. Nearly every current NCEE publications is included on the disc, in searchable and printable form. The NCEE website has more details on Virtual Economics 3.0 sponsored by State Farm .
On February 1, 2006 I was a co-presenter in a workshop on "Ventures and Adventures in International Economic Education” at the Michigan Council for Social Studies and Great Lakes Regional Social Studies Conference in Grand Rapids.
December 2005, We held a finance workshop titled "Learning, Earning, and Investing," for middle school and high school teachers, sponsored by Moody's Foundation. See the Learning, Earning and Investing website.
In August 2005, we offered a four day There's No Such Thing as a Free Lunch Economics Institute for K-12 teachers at Kalamazoo College (the registration form). Thanks to generous grants from General Motors and from the US Department of Education this institute was free to teachers. Both the Michigan Council and the National Council worked hard to bring these grants to Kalamazoo. If you are interested in future workshops, please contact me at cstull@kzoo.edu.
In May 2004, we co-sponsored a very successful daylong workshop on Teaching College Economics with Western Michigan University's Department of Economics. While we won't have this program this year, we hope to return to it in the future. |
