Bio:
I joined the department in 1996 and I have enjoyed teaching a variety of classes here including Principles of Economics, Industrial Organization, Law and Economics, First-Year Seminar, and Business Statistics. Before coming to K College, I taught at Hobart and William Smith, Wells College, WMU, and Michigan State. I studied economics as an undergraduate at Northwestern University and as a graduate student at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Since 2002, I have been the director of the Kalamazoo College Center for Economic Education working to improve the teaching of economics at all levels. Our center is part of a national network for economic education coordinated by the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE). Our immediate affiliation is with the Michigan Council on Economic Education. I regularly lead workshops on economics for K-12 teachers and I have published several pieces on teaching economics.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling internationally. I spent the 2006-7 academic year in Uruguay. Earlier trips include visits to Turkey, China, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Spain. I also enjoy canoeing, photography, and blogging. Visit my blog. |
