Economics and Business is one of the most popular majors at Kalamazoo College. Our graduates go on to careers in many fields. Over seventy percent of our students choose to continue their education through business, law, or graduate schools.

The Department of Economics & Business has recently decided to change the structure of its major! The department will now offer two distinct majors: A major in Economics and a major in Business. It will continue to offer three minors: Economics, Business and International Economics & Business.

Dr. Patrik Hultberg: I joined the Department in 2004 and am currently the Chair of the Department (since 2007). Originally from Sweden, I received a B.A. in International Business from Ohio Wesleyan University (1993) and my Masters and Ph.D. degrees in International Economics from Rice University (1998). Dr. Ahmed Hussen: Joined the Department in 1985. Ph.D. from Oregon State University (1979) with a field of specialization in natural resource economics. Taught at Allegheny College for several years (1980-85), Waseda University, Japan (1990-91), Africa University, Zimbabwe (the Fall semester of 2000 and the Spring semester of 2002), and most recently at the University of Botswana (2006-07) as a Fulbright scholar.
