"One of the ways we can impact our community is to make a personal commitment to either serve or be active in the community. We don't have to have a title or elected office in order to have a positive influence. We also - if we're going to participate - need to have a working knowledge of what the issues are, so you know, sometimes we have to work and study a little bit so we can speak knowledgeably about issues that impact our community.

"We can all define 'community' in many different ways. For example, for some of us, it might be our church, for others, our school. It could be our township or city. But we all can participate whether we have a leadership title or not, because leadership is about relationships with people. It's not about a title that you have."
