Effective Action
Effective Action

All the information on this CD will do no good at all unless you can use it effectively to achieve your goal of bringing change (or preventing it!) in Kalamazoo County. To that end, we've gathered information from active members of the community to help you achieve your goals.

How to be effective

There are three key parts to successfully bringing your issue to the attention of local governing bodies: being informed, working with others, and making your voice heard. In this section, you will learn how to do all three.

Be Informed This section contains documents containing data collected by the Convening Our Community Survey from 1999-2000. These contain scientifically-gathered, uninterpreted survey statistics and data that may help you determine if your issue has support in your community. (More on our data sources.)
Work With Others This section lists local groups currently working to bring change on various topics of local interest. By combining your efforts with others, your topic will gain more attention and your job will be easier.
Make Your Voice Heard This section contains advice from effective community leaders. Read text and see video of what the experts have to say about the best way to bring attention to your issue.
Contact us to Participate in Convening for Action Convening Our Community continues with Convening for Action, a follow-up project that will focus primarily on land use issues in Kalamazoo County.
