Parkview and Drake

Description: Parkview is a nice tree-lined road. Parkview should be kept for residential use and kept to two lanes to minimize non-residential use. WMU BTR traffic should be forced onto only Drake. Parkview has wonderful trees to provide a scenic and relaxing drive.

Why it should be preserved: Parkview is for residential use. Traffic should be slower in the area. There is marshland on this stretch and it should have the benefits of trees to minimize the impact of traffic. Data shows widening streets increases speed and results in more accidents. Bike lanes are not needed because there is an existing route through the neighborhood.

Other Comments: Trees keep lanes smaller which allows residents to use the road more easily. The road widening of Parkview should not occur east of where WMU’s BTR Park is going.
