Asylum Lake Property

(Between Stadium and Parkview - east of Drake Road)

Description: The area is home to many non-human species, including some species of concern.  There is a rolling woodland site around the lake that opens up into a prairie/meadow habitat to the north.

Why it should be preserved: It is undeveloped and is a necessary buffer for Asylum Lake Preserve.  The wetlands are valuable and the forests around the shores provide biking/foot paths.  It is home to migrant waterfowl and songbirds.  It helps prevent urban sprawl and the continuing growth of WMU.

Other Comments: As development continues throughout Kalamazoo County, the community needs to ensure the preservation of buffers for the Asylum Lake area through proper care.
