Why it should be preserved: The site could serve to remind citizens of earlier times in Kalamazoo. It is a well-preserved, nineteenth and early twentieth-century neighborhood containing architecturally significant homes of a number of early local civic, commercial, and industrial leaders. The area was first platted in 1839 and the first homes were constructed in the late 1840’s and early 1850’s.
Other Comments: There is a proposed addition that is a residential area notable for its well-preserved and historical late nineteenth and early twentieth-century early suburban landscape and architecture.
