General Information on Study Abroad at Kalamazoo College

Study abroad offers eligible students the opportunity to challenge their assumptions about themselves and other cultures in a rigorous experiential education environment. Kalamazoo College offers study abroad programs of varying lengths, academic emphasis, and locations. While not required to graduate, 80% of Kalamazoo College graduates have participated in the study abroad program.

We encourage students to begin planning for study abroad during their first year. During winter quarter the CIP distributes a "first year interest form" for students to complete. Given that many programs have language requirements and minimum grade point averages required for participation, our intention is to inform students early about their options. During this time we hope that parents talk with students about study abroad so that by sophomore year the student is prepared for the application and orientation process.

IMPORTANT RESOURCES
Our searchable database of programs lists the locations, durations, prices, and academic details of all Kalamazoo College-sponsored and -approved programs available to our students. Some of these programs are also open to students from other institutions wishing to study abroad.
