Project Description

The Kalamazoo Project for Intercultural Communication
The new framework for structuring the study abroad experience consists of three parts:

  • A pre-departure course that exposes students to basic principles of intercultural communication andMatt encourages them to begin thinking about the nature of the Integrative Cultural Research Project
  • A series of writing assignments, completed while the student is abroad, that help students become aware of the evolution of their study abroad experience. These writing assignments are sent electronically to the group or organization the student selected before departure and with the Kalamazoo College course instructor.  They are subsequently shared with faculty members, fellow students in the course, and other interested parties.
  • A course for returning students that encourages reflection on the study abroad experience and provides venues in which students may share their experiences with others, through a series of speaking engagements.

( "How does KPIC differ from the the current/typical K College study abroad experience?")
