Winifred Peakes Jones Prize recipients

Congratulations to Larry Briski and Barret Myers (right), the 2007 joint recipients of the Winifred Peakes Jones Prize in Biology. The prize is in recognition of excellence in the first year's work in biology. It is awarded at the Honors Day Convocation ceremony in October.

2006-07 Senior Awards in Biology

William E. Praeger Prize for the most outstanding senior major/s in Biology, based on academic achievement in the discipline: Emily Cornwell and Adam Granger.

H. Lewis Batts Prize in recognition of significant service and support to activities in the Biology Department: Emily Cornwell and Lindsay Voss.

Robert Bzdyl Prize for demonstrated interest in marine or aquatic biology: Emily Cornwell.

Diebold Scholars – students recognized for excellence with their Senior Individualized Project, as demonstrated by the oral or poster presentation of the SIP at the annual Diebold Symposium: Emily Cornwell, Adam Granger, Lindsay Voss and Nick Wasmer.


 

November 2006

Armstrong presents poster at Sigma Xi Annual Meeting

Andrew Armstrong (K '09) attended the Sigma Xi Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference held on November 2-5, 2006 in Detroit, Michigan. At the meeting Andrew presented a poster entitled "Evaluating the Genetic Interaction Between Knirps and Groucho" that outlined summer research he conducted at Michigan State University with Dr. Sandhya Payankaulam and Dr. David Arnosti. Judges awarded Andrew a yellow ribbon for excellence, citing his presentation as one that exceeded the basic level of research and presentation for a research conference at this level.
