About CAS
Introduction
Founded in the Spring of 2002 with the support of a Freeman
Foundation Grant, Kalamazoo College's Center for Asian Studies
is devoted to the study and understanding of Asia, with a
special focus on China and Japan, two of the most important

and further strengthens Kalamazoo College's long tradition
and leadership in the internationalization of higher education
in a liberal arts setting.
The Center
currently sponsors four major programs
each year:
- a lecture
series
- a colloquium
series
- a series
of faculty-led, on-site studies courses
- summer
outreach programs for high school teachers and students
from Michigan and the Midwest
- a scholar-in-residence
