 Batts Pond
Batts Pond
Arboretum director John Fraser is currently obtaining permits for the construction of a small footbridge over the intermittent stream that flows into the northern end of Batts Pond. The bridge will be approximately 10 meters long and will be built of untreated cedar posts and recycled plastic/wood decking.
Construction permits are required from the State Department of Environmental Quality and also from the Kalamazoo County Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Program.
Construction is scheduled to take place some time next summer. It is hoped that community members and alumni volunteers will assist in the project. Further details will be provided later in the News section of the Website.
