Absence from Commencement
All seniors are expected to participate in the commencement ceremony. If unable to attend the ceremony, the Registrar must be informed as soon as possible at 269-337-7204. The line-up is configured by everyone’s participation, so it is very important to inform the registrar of your absence.
Baccalaureate is a non-denominational service with student and faculty speakers and musical performances held on Saturday, June 13 at 8:00 p.m. Stetson Chapel is consistently “almost full” for this service, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
For easier maneuvering around campus visit our campus map.
The Commencement ceremony will take place outside on the campus quadrangle. Tickets are not required for the outdoor ceremony, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Plenty of chairs will be available on the lower quad to accommodate family and friends. Open seating will also be available on the grass of the upper quad. Guests may bring lawn chairs and blankets as long as they do not obstruct the view for other guests. The rain location will be in the Anderson Athletic Center and will require tickets. Seniors will each receive six rain tickets at Senior Rehearsal, which will be held on Thursday, June 11 from 4 -5 p.m. For all of your relatives and friends that can′t make the trip to Kalamazoo, tell them to pull up the Kalamazoo College Commencement webpage on Sunday, June 14, 2019 at 1 p.m. to watch the Commencement ceremony LIVE! The ceremony lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours ending around 3:30 p.m.
The College has hired Graduation Foto to take a photo of your senior as they accept their diploma and exit the stage. In the spring you will receive information about ordering keepsake prints.
Seniors must attend Commencement rehearsal in Stetson Chapel on Thursday, June 11, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Six rain tickets per senior will be distributed at rehearsal. If a senior absolutely needs to be excused from this rehearsal, he or she must contact Kerri Barker at 269-337-7289 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Departmental receptions will be held in various locations throughout campus on Saturday, June 13 between the hours of 3 – 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Some receptions last longer depending on attendance. Departmental receptions are a great time to meet professors and the people with whom your senior has studied for the last four years.

First Destination Survey through Handshake
Each year, Kalamazoo College’s First Destination Survey helps the College measure the impact of your education and helps current and prospective K students see where recent grads are heading. You may not know what your next step is after Commencement. That’s okay – you’re not alone! You can still complete the survey – and possibly seek some help in determining your next step from the CCPD. (Just a quick reminder: CCPD services don’t expire – EVER, they’re here to help you even after graduation!) Help us help you by taking a few minutes to tell us about your next steps at: http://bit.ly/KFDS2019
The Grad Fair will be held Wednesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 23 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Seniors will have the chance to purchase their cap and gown, graduation announcements, and other commemorative items. Please contact bookstore personnel at 269-337-7318 if you have any questions.
Honor My Senior
Join parents and families in recognizing the Class of 2020. Make a gift in honor of your senior.
Rain Tickets for Inclement Weather Location
If rain, or inclement weather forces the ceremony indoors, it will take place in Anderson Athletic Center, where tickets will be required for entry. Each senior receives six tickets that will be distributed at the Senior Rehearsal on Thursday, June 11 at 4:00 p.m. Due to space limitations in the event of an indoor ceremony, we must limit the tickets to six per senior. Remind your senior to give you their tickets before they line up for the ceremony! No extra tickets will be issued by the College for any reason.
Residence Hall Check-out
Residence halls will remain open for seniors until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.
A Senior Awards ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 in Stetson Chapel. Not every senior receives an award. Notifications will be sent to your senior in early June. Please check with your senior to see if they will receive an award, or be recognized for an academic accomplishment during the program. If you have any questions about the Senior Awards ceremony, please contact the Offices of the President and Provost at 269-337-7158.
As part of the College’s climate commitment initiative and effort to reduce the consumption of bottled water on campus, we encourage guests to bring reusable bottles to the Commencement ceremony to fill at the various water stations that will be available around the Quad.
