Absence from Commencement
All seniors are expected to participate in Commencement. If any are unable to attend Commencement, they must inform the Registrar, at 269-337-7204 as soon as possible. The line-up is configured by everyone’s participation, so it is very important to inform the registrar of your absence.
Baccalaureate is a non-denominational service with student and faculty speakers and musical performances held on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Stetson Chapel is consistently “almost full” for this service, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. A sound system will be set up outside of the chapel for overflow. Some guests choose to bring a blanket and relax on the lawn of the chapel. It is a very pleasant way to listen to the service.
Graduating seniors, their families and guests are invited to purchase boxed lunches to enjoy on campus prior to Commencement. Dining on campus is convenient and will help you avoid any parking difficulties prior to the ceremony. A boxed lunch reservation form will be sent to your home as Commencement approaches. A very limited number of extra lunches will be available for those who do not make reservations. Reservations are essential. Reserved lunch tickets will be distributed with your senior’s Commencement ceremony rain tickets in June. They may also be picked up at the registration desk on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 12:20 – 3:30 p.m. or Sunday, June 15 from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
