My Halloweek at K

It’s 7th week here at K, which means the stress of midterms has died down and the stress of finals is peeking around the corner.  However, since this week was also Halloween, there was plenty of time to relax and gorge on candy and spooky spirit.  Since K’s colors are the spookiest combination of colors, you can imagine that Halloween spirit abounds here.  I saw many costume-clad K students in the cafeteria, a pumpkin carving contest in Hicks, and a scary ghoul hanging in Hicks Center’s main atrium.

I live in a suite with five other friends, all of whom, like myself, aren’t that into the K party scene.  So instead of venturing out into the streets to celebrate all things spooky, we kept the party inside (the howling winds and chilly temperature were also a factor in our decision).  After we finished class and work, we ordered sesame chicken and crab rangoon from the little restaurant down the street and ate it–and a bucket full of candy–during a Halloween movie marathon.

We weren’t the only group to stay huddled in piles of blankets watching all of the Halloweentown movies in sequence, although there were plenty of brave souls who wandered outside for spook-tivities.  It’s a little hard to get back into the academic mindset after a full day of fun, but it’s almost 8th week, which means it’s time to get down to business before finals.  How scary.
